What is DaanUtsav?*
India’s festival of giving, from Oct 2-8, millions across India come together to celebrate the joy of giving through DaanUtsav. Over 6 million people participate, with 2,000+ events organized in 100+ cities, raising crores in resources, funds, and volunteer hours.
Every year, over 50 NGOs participate in the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) activities in Mumbai, successfully raising resources and funds to the tune of Rs.5 lakh+ and reaching over 30,000 Mumbaikars . This happens by NGOs setting up booths at various petrol pumps. They engage with customers who visit the petrol pumps in creative ways. They say even delivery boys stop to engage and contribute! Some NGOs take the initiative to visit apartments and shops in the vicinity and invite them to the booth! NGOs have reported that it has been an opportunity for the youth in their communities and their teams to gain leadership experience.
This year IOCL is expanding to other cities to celebrate DaanUtsav with its customers engaging with NGOs.
These stalls are free of cost for NGOs during DaanUtsav.
